White Like Heaven

Whilst the name might instantly evoke the idea of bleak, sprawling soundscapes, Wastelanders, the solo project of Dean Costello second album ‘Cosmic Despair’, is on closer inspection not quite as sombre as it’s name might initially suggest.Formed of heavily treated guitars and organs, the albums opens with a trio of mediative ambient pieces which explore and overlap sounds created by these two instruments before exploring more melodic territory, in shape of skittery keyboad melodies on ‘Expanding Mental Universe’ and lush guitar solos on final track ‘The Crossing’.
